On the afternoon of May 31, the left inclined well and tunnel exit for Jinjiazhuang ultra-long spiral tunnel undertaken by Sichuan Road & Bridge was smoothly linked up. Up to now, 394 meters in the left line and 201 meters in the right line remain to be completed for the Jinjiazhuang ultra-long spiral tunnel.

The Hebei section of Yanqing-Chongli Expressway is the No. 1 project under the Ministry of Transport and the key project of the Winter Olympics. Jinjiazhuang ultra-long spiral tunnel is a project for key control under the program. It is called the “impossible task” because a 360-degree tunnel has to be made in the mountain between Chicheng County and Chongli District in Zhangjiakou to link up the two sides. It was certified by the Guinness World Records in April 2018 as the “longest expressway spiral tunnel in the world under construction.” It is a separate ultra-long tunnel with complicated geological conditions and extreme construction difficulty. The construction length of this spiral tunnel is 1665 meters, with a maximum embedded depth of some 314.5m. The middle line of the inclined well intersects the left line of the main cave at ZK82+945.
